Pet Cemetery

July 10, 2010

As many of my friends know, I'm a total placophile. So when I discovered that the oldest operating pet cemetery in the world was located in New York I made my way down there on a sunny afternoon.

Hartsdale Pet Cemetery started in 1896 and since then has buried over 70,000 animals on its grounds. Most are dogs and cats but there were bears, lions, bunnies, fish, and even an elephant.

The tombstones here were great - the names, the photos. It was a good time.

KAWS at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

June 29, 2010

June 27th marked KAWS' first solo museum exhibition. The exhibit includes his most recent paintings, sculptures, and drawings, as well as a survey of his iconic street art, apparel, product and graphic designs.

I would have pictured this type of retrospective to be displayed at the Brooklyn Art Museum, MoMA, or even LACMA. It was very interesting to see the choice of venue for this exhibit. Never the less, it was nice to see it in a less hectic setting. You can check out all the photos that I took at the opening on my Flickr. Enjoy the photos and go see it in person now through the New Year!

2010 Mermaid Parade

June 21, 2010

Coney Island celebrates the start of summer every year with the annual Mermaid Parade. It's definitely the most elaborate kick-off with thousands of people dressed in amazing costumes and partying on the boardwalk only like NYC knows how to.

"How to do a Graffiti Throw Up" by SEEN

May 05, 2010

SEEN is probably one of the most amazing people that I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know. At one his many summertime BBQs in the Bronx I asked the Godfather of Graffiti to show me how he does his legendary Throw Up. He grabbed a can of paint and I whipped out my camera and what we have here is a 3 minute visual instructional video for all you graff heads to enjoy.

May 02, 2010

Tonight in SF was the opening of Scott C. and Nathan Stapley's latest show "Amicvs Monstrvm". I would have officially DIED to get my hands on "Drunk Frankenstein", but alas, at Scott campbell's prices they get swooped up quickly. I'm sure the others will get sold in no time, especially since the show is only up till the 18th!

If you aren't in the area you can check out the artwork on the Gallery 1998 site. I swear Scott's stuff is so fuckin cute it makes me wanna cry.
